==DoD Beta 1.0 (12 janvier 2001)==
Après plus de 1 an de demie de rumeurs, Day of Defeat Beta1 est finalement présenté au public. Une vague massive de fans venus de partout sur le globe se joint à l'équipe de Day of Defeat, dont + de 600 étaient présents sur le Channel IRC le jour de la sortie.
== DoD Beta 1.1 (14 février 2001)==
DoD b1.1 fixe quelques erreurs mineures de DoD b1, la première sortie de Day of Defeat, comme les bugs de spawn et implante un nouveau système de score que peu aiment. Voici une liste complète des changements effectués :

==DoD Beta 1.2 (5 avril 2001)==
DoD b1.2 est un choc majeur pour les fans. Grande avancée par rapport aux deux autres versions, DoD b1.2 inclut des nouvelles cartes, options, models, fixations, et encore bien plus. dod_sicily, dod_seg, and dod_hill apparaissent sur DoD b1.2, avec le retour de la bien connue dod_snowtown. DoD b1.2 refait également de nouveaux models de joueurs, Allies et Axis, qui respirent réellement. DoD b1.2 relève les standards et se révèle à toute une communauté comme le meilleur jeu basé sur la WWII.

== DoD Beta 1.3 (1 juillet 2001)==
DoD b1.3 est sortie environ trois mois après b1.2 , b1.3 comprend deux nouvelles SUPERBES cartes, dod_cherbourg de Arcturus, devenant sa 3ème carte de Day of Defeat toutes sorties confondues, et dod_koln de Waldo. Koln impressionne la communauté de DoD en leur apportant une carte incroyablement jouable avec l'atmosphère d'une vraie ambiance de guerre.b1.3.
La dev team corrige aussi beaucoup de bugs et de cheats, avec de nouveaux models, ce qui inclut un nouveau Kar98, Thompson, dague des jeunesses Hitlériennes, et le fameux model de grenade 'Potato' Smasher. b1.3 apporte aussi son lot de plaintes, principalement dûes au fait que les grenades peuvent tuer les coéquipiers même avec FF off et que le réarmement du k98 est plus lent. Nouvelles options du Client

NOTE: Les choses suivantes peuvent réduire le lag, mais la plupart des gens ne veulent pas jouer sans ces deux systèmes. Donc on vous laisse choisir vous 'le client'.Si vous les mettez 'off', le serveur ne vous enverra plus les messages de mort ou de discussion, ce qui vous fait économiser en théorie de la bande passante.

== DoD Beta 2.0 (13 octobre 2001) ==
Recul - Le recul est désormais appliqué à chaque arme à feu de DoD. En position accroupi ou couchée le recul est réduit.
Classe la MG - le choix de cette classe permet aux axis de choisir soit la mg42 soit la mg34. Pour les alliés seule la calibre .30 est disponibe. Pour un maximum d'efficacité il faut déployer le bipied des mg, vous pouvez le faire n'importe où en position couchée et dans "les nids de mgs" en position debout. Les MG's,bien que transportant beaucoup de munitions, arrivent très vite à court de munitions: toutes les autres classes sont en mesure de leur fournir des boites afin de compléter leurs réserves.
Système de prone - The views do not go all the way down, I am aware of this, valve will help me fix this before release. Once down, your view will sway back and forth while moving, once stopped your view slowly resets to center screen. You can not fire while moving in prone.
Movement System - New movement system. 2 new movement types, jog (default) and sprint (shift key). Hold down the shift key to get a quick burst of running speed, will drain stamina.
New Scoped Kar - replaces the gewehr sniper rifle. Same firing as spring, single shot reload.
New Spade - All germans, cept sniper, get the spade (shovel), replaces the youth knife.
New Sound System - Just the start of our new sound system, everything is heard by others, from breathing, to jiggling of pack and equipment while moving and jumping.
New Effects System - Not finished, so far we have the new shrapnel system in. When explosions go off tiny bits of shrapnel shoot out with smoke effects which follow it as it bounces around.
New Sniper System - When zooming in, your screen fades into the scope to represent your eyes settling into the scope, when you move you come out of the scope. Scope stays zoomed in for a second after shot, to let you see how your shot was.
New Animation System - New death animations, new jog\walk\crouch animations, new getup\get down prone animations, new mg42 bipod out\in animations, new hand signal animations (ties into the voice commands, and also can be done by themselves for silent times). When zooming in with Sniper rifles, your player actually does a zoomin animation.
New Hud - All colored, better functionality for map goals, objective timers, objective status, and reinforcement timer.
New file\directory system - All files in lower case lettering, deleted lots of unused files, redid the paths for directories to clean up our structure. NO UPPERCASE FILES !!!

New Objectives System - Mugsy will write up a file that helps better explain how to use this system for mappers.
New Fog System - 2 versions, the Valve version of OpenGL, and then the plain OpenGL version. cl_fog (1 = opengl, 2 = valve). You can set the color of it with (cl_fog_red, cl_fog_green, cl_fog_blue) give those a RGB value, default is 192 for each (grey). cl_fog_start is used to show where the fog starts in relation to your view point, cl_fog_end is the ending point for it in relation to your view as well.

Note: If you are visually impaired, and can't see our nice red crosshair, or if you just have something against red, you can swap it with a blue one. Browse to your Half-Life\dod\sprites directory and find a file called 'dodcross.spr'. Rename this file to 'dodcross.red.spr'. Now find a file called 'dodcross.blue.spr'. Rename this file to 'dodcross.spr'. Now your crosshair will be blue!

Para Gameplay - We are proud to add this into 3.0. The way this system works is left up to the mapper. We allowed alot of flexability in the way to mix normal\para gameplays now. Currently in our 3 para maps for 3.0 you will see some of the following. Both teams will be 1 life round team, or when you die you wait for next round. You can win by completing objectives which award more points, or wipe out the other team. Mappers can change these settings and mix gameplays, with para 1 lifers vs. normal dod infinite life team. The possibilities with the gameplay + objectives coding in 3.0 is endless.
Cutscenes - Maps that feature this will play a dramatic movie scene to show objectives, or set
the mood for the map. The 3 para maps featured in 3.0 have team specific joining cutscenes. Each team sees a different cutscene, and only 1 time when they first spawn up in the map. Clan matches can turn this feature off when mp_clan_match 1, and mp_clan_showcutscenes set to 0.
Removable Helmets - The new para player models feature this, we will work in the old models in future version(s). When a bullet strikes the helmet it will fly off, and the player will be without a helmet rest of round. Nearby grenade blasts can also blow a helmet off. Just a little fun addition.
New Spectator System - Incorporated HLTV features into ingame spectator system. Modes include: First person, Free\Locked chase cam, Map Free\Locked, Inset window views. Health of the player your spectating is also shown. HLTV features from 2.1 is shown on the maps as well, such as tnt, grenades thrown, objectives and their status, for the map views (inset\full map mode). Objectives status area is shown if no inset view is present as well.
